ASH Launches New Drug Access Webpage
As part of ASH’s effort to ensure patient access to safe and effective hematologic drugs that are expensive and often in specialty tiers, ASH launched a new webpage:
www.hematology.org/Clinicians/Drugs/Programs that provides a consolidated list of resources for hematologists and patients trying to access high cost hematologic drugs. The new resource includes:
Patient assistant (drug access) program information available through pharmaceutical companies and foundations, with direct links to specific details and forms for obtaining each therapy;
Templates of appeal letters ASH members can download and use to justify the use of high cost drugs to insurance companies;
Links to the Consult a Colleague Program for physicians with further questions; and
Information about ASH’s advocacy campaign related to drug access.
Please contact ASH Policy and Practice Coordinator, Deon Nelson at
dnelson@hematology.org, if you experience any difficulty using the page or know of any other high-cost drug resources.
